A flat lock seam can be used to join two thicker fabrics together with very little bulk so the seam sits flat. It's particularly used for sportswear and utility fabrics where the thicker fabrics need a low bulk seam. This stitch gives two distinct looks on each side so Becky will also show you how to use different threads for this stitch in a decorative way. This stitch can also be used to make a faux-cover stitch or blind hem on a project or to stop a fringe on an open weave fabric from fraying too much. You will work through lots of samples and different fabrics so you will have a set of samples and the confidence to continue at home. All materials and full instructions will be provided in your workshop kit
